THE London Bus Museum organised for a fleet of old buses to hit the roads on its Route 65 Running Day on Sunday (April 11).

Here are a few snaps from Ealing Nub News readers of a parade of London buses from many decades ago.

The museum's Treasurer, Peter Osborn, said ahead of the event: "Route 65 has been a link southwards for the people of Ealing ever since the route was introduced in 1914, and has always been a busy and well-used route, connecting them with Brentford, Kew, Richmond, Kingston and points south.

"Londoners use their buses more than other people around the country and many of us grew up with buses like the ones that will be used in our event.

"I am looking forward to seeing local people out on the streets and the smiles on their faces when they see an old bus coming along.

"Museums are important, but nothing beats taking our transport heritage out on the streets for which it was designed."

Rupa Huq, MP for Ealing Central and Acton was very happy to see the vintage buses and made sure to take a lot of pictures.

She said: "By the time they reached South Ealing, due to a combination of social distancing and popularity, all were full.

"Bravo! More again please when restrictions are further eased."

She joked: "I have spent more of my life on the 65 than is required for one lifetime, as I used to live in Kingston."
