FOUR men who stabbed a man to death in Acton have been sentenced to prison.

Osvaldo de Carvalho, 22, was killed on West Lodge Avenue on September 24 2019.

Three brothers with the surname Sohal - Kamal, 23, Sukhminder, 25, and Michael, 28 – were found guilty of his murder on February 16.

A fourth man, Antoine George, 24, was found guilty of manslaughter, while a fifth man, Karim Azab, 25, was not found guilty of murder.

The four men were sentenced on Thursday, April 29 at Croydon Crown Court.

Kamal was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 22 years for murder.

Sukhminder and Michael were both sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 19 years for murder.

Antoine George was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for manslaughter.

The court heard how the men and Osvaldo had been involved in an ongoing dispute.

When Sukhminder and Michael met Osvaldo and two of his friends in Twyford Gardens that night, they called their brother, Kamal for reinforcement.

On receiving this call, Kamal grabbed a large hunting knife, which he brandished as he ran to the scene along Uxbridge Road, while George who was at Kamal's house joined him.

After their arrival and following a brief chase, the three in the victim's group ran from the scene in different directions, with Osvaldo running into West Lodge Avenue.

Witnesses described him being chased by a group of men, some armed with knives.

They caught up with him and stabbed him, before running off and leaving Osvaldo on the ground dying.

He had suffered multiple wounds stab wounds, with the fatal wound being the one to his back, which was so deep that it nearly passed through his body.

In a bid to cover their tracks, Michael and Sukhminder set fire to the clothes they had been wearing during the time of the attack.

The investigation launched found that George and Sukhminder had gone to a shop in Hounslow on the day of the murder and purchased knives that were later used in the attack, with the weapons never being recovered.

It was with the assistance of witnesses and piecing together CCTV footage that the police were able to trace and arrest the suspects, who were subsequently charged with murder.
