AN Ealing curry house has been urging residents to order directly from their local restaurants, instead of using platforms such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Manik Miah, owner of Haweli in West Ealing told Nub News: "External delivery platforms take around 30-35% commission plus VAT, so it leaves owners with very little to cover our expenses.

"By ordering directly from local restaurants such as Haweli, residents don't only help the small businesses, but at the same time save themselves money as well.

"Customers save on processing and delivery fees and as an added bonus, we give them an extra 20% discount for coming directly to us."

Miah has even set up his own app for the restaurant in order to make the process easier for customers.

"It also makes it easier to resolve any misunderstandings as customers can just get in touch with us, instead of having to go through the big delivery platforms" he added.

"For example, if something is wrong with an order – which is very rare – instead of having to put in a complaint with Deliveroo or Uber Eats, which could take hours or days to get resolved, they can just get in touch with us directly and the issue can be resolved."

You can find the Haweli app on the Apple App Store and on Google Play.

You can also order direct by calling 020 8567 6211.
