A former Metropolitan Police officer is set to appear in court on Wednesday having been charged with rape in Hillingdon and Ealing.

PC Jade Ebanks, who resigned from duty on Friday 21st April 2023, was charged with five counts of rape on Friday 28th April.

The investigation was led by officers from the South West Public Protection Unit, leading to an arrest on Thursday 5th May 2022 and Ebanks has been suspended from duty since.

The offences were carried out between 2018 and 2020 in Ealing and Hillingdon and involved the same victim.

Ebanks joined the force in June 2021 and was attached to the North West BCU prior to his resignation.

He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 31st May to begin his trial.

Chief Superintendent Andy Carter said after PC Ireland Murdock was found guilty of raping a woman: "We are determined to have a Met that the public can trust, with officers that people feel confident to approach. When someone fails to meet these standards, we will take action to remove them from our organisation."

Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said on changing the culture of the police: "This report [The Casey Report] needs to lead to meaningful change. If it only leads to pillory and blame of the exceptional majority of officers then only criminals will benefit.

"We need it to galvanise Londoners, the dedicated police majority and politicians to coalesce around reform and the renewal of policing by consent for the 21st century."
