A FORMER comedy writer will lead his first mindfulness meditation workshop in Ealing this weekend.

Nelson David from South Ealing used to work in comedy - mostly writing, but also performing too.

Around 15 years ago he discovered meditation and he claims it changed his life.

Three years ago he discovered mindfulness, which is slightly different to traditional meditation practices, as it helps people learn about their own specific mind.

He decided to retrain and completed a course at the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre in order to learn more and perfect his craft.

After completing his studies, Nelson started setting up his own business when the pandemic kicked in and set everything back.

Since restrictions have started easing however, he's been leading mindfulness walks in parks, and on Sunday, July 18, he will lead his first workshop.

He told Ealing Nub News: "I'm very excited to be leading my first in person workshop following the coronavirus pandemic.

"This workshop will be a taster for people who have never really practised mindfulness before, it's very much tailored to beginners.

"I want them to come away thinking, 'oh yes, I'd like to try some more of that'.

"But at the same time, the workshop is a one-off for the moment, so people don't have to worry about any commitments, it's just an introduction to mindfulness, similarly to how I was introduced a few years ago."

The workshop will take place at the Open Ealing Arts Centre in Dickens Yard on Sunday, 10:30am-1:30pm.

Cost is £30; to book your place, click HERE.
