Around 60 firefighters tackled a fire at a sports pavilion in Tentelow Lane yesterday (Thursday, July 21).

The fire at the Southall pavilion, home to the Osterley Cricket Club, was reported at 2:37am and in the dry weather conditions took more than four hours to take control of.

Fire crews from Southall, Heston and surrounding stations remained at the scene damping down remaining hotspots.

Station Commander Brett Loft, who was at the scene, said, "Crews worked hard to bring this fire under control. Due to the weather conditions the fire has created a lot of smoke in all directions and nearby residents are advised keep their doors and windows shut."
