An eco-mural will be painted by the local community in Ealing Broadway this Saturday, and then featured at the COP26.

The creation of the mural will be led by a professional artist but painted by local residents.

This event will be filmed and then featured on ActForEaling's stall at COP26, to promote collaborative community action.

Ealing Broadway and Paint Your Planet have collaborated with ActForEaling, the central hub for eco-activity in Ealing, to organised the event.

ActForEaling were invited to the COP26 to inspire more coordinated community eco-activity.

With the intention to showcase how a community can collaborate to achieve net zero, the eco-mural hopes to promote awareness of how all Ealing residents can adopt at least one of ten everyday action steps to boost sustainability in the borough.

Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway said: "Ealing Broadway is thrilled to be hosting the eco-mural for Ealing.

"Across the centre, we've been working hard to consistently find new ways of becoming even more environmentally friendly.

"We are a zero waste to landfill centre as all our general waste is sent to a plant to be recovered as electricity and we're proud that in line with ActForEaling's ten steps, four years ago we began switching our lighting to LEDs to cut our energy use.

He added: "Our local community is very important to us, now and in the future, so we want to do what we can to contribute to a more sustainable Ealing.

"We see supporting the team at ActForEaling as another fantastic way to do this."

All residents of Ealing, aged from 1 to 101, are invited to contribute to the painting of the mural.

Sanitised paintbrushes and paint will be supplied so anyone can help to paint the design for this striking addition to the borough.

Find ActForEaling on Saturday, 6 November at Ealing Broadway, opposite Footlocker from midday-4pm.

The film of the mural's creation will launch at COP26 and online, on 11 November.
