Ealing: Witness appeal after 82-year-old man hit by car on Gunnersbury Lane

Detectives have issued an appeal for witnesses today after a car failed to stop after hitting an 82-year-old man on Gunnersbury Lane, Ealing last week.

The collision occurred on Wednesday, 5 January when a car, which did not stop at the scene, hit a pedestrian on Gunnersbury Lane.

Police were called at 3:19pm and attended the scene along with London Ambulance Service (LAS).

They found an 82-year-old man had been in a collision with a blue coloured Mercedes A Class.

The man was taken by LAS to a west London hospital where his condition remains critical but stable.

Later that same day, a 27-year-old man self-presented at a west London police station and was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road traffic collision.

He was later released on bail.

The vehicle concerned was recovered.

Detective Constable Davina Nash, of the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "I am very keen to hear from any drivers who were in the area who may have dash-cam footage of the circumstances surrounding this collision or anyone who witnessed the incident but hasn't yet spoken with police.

"If you have information that could assist our investigation please don't hesitate to get in touch."
