EXPECT to find tougher restrictions when you go to Morrisons or Sainsbury's in Ealing from today.
The supermarket chains have announced that shoppers who refuse to wear a mask without a medical exemption will be told to leave.
Media reports say Morrisons is prepared to call in police as a last resort if customers do not comply with requests to wear a mask.
Health secretary, Matt Hancock said stronger action was needed and applauded Morrisons.
He said: "That's the right approach and I want to see all parts of society playing their part in this.
"Stronger enforcement is necessary and I'm delighted that the police are stepping up their enforcement.
"But it isn't just about the government and the rules we set, or the police and the work that they do.
"It's about how everybody behaves."
Sainsbury's has followed suit and also announced the crackdown on non-masked shoppers.
Sainsbury's Chief Executive, Simon Roberts, has said that specially trained security guards will be stationed at shop entrances.
Security will challenge any customers not wearing a mask or shopping in large groups and not allow people into the store without a reasonable excuse.
Simon Roberts said: "The vast majority of customers are shopping safely, but I have also seen some customers trying to shop without a mask and shopping in larger family groups.
"Please help us to keep all our colleagues and customers safe by always wearing a mask and by shopping alone."
It has not yet been made clear if Sainsbury's plans to call the police against offenders, in a similar way to Morrisons.
