A MAN has been jailed after being found guilty of shoplifting in West Ealing.

Mark Belgrave, 51, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to two weeks' imprisonment, which will run concurrently with a previous sentence of six weeks that had been suspended for a year.

On June 28, officers were on patrol on West Ealing Broadway when their attention was drawn to Belgrave.

They decided to approach him, upon which he ran away and disappeared.

CCTV enquiries at a nearby shop revealed that Belgrave had been in the location earlier and was caught on camera stealing some items.

Two officers then searched the local area, managing to locate him and proceeded to arrest him for shoplifting.

On July 12 he entered a guilty plea and was subsequently sentenced.
