Ealing residents protested against the ULEZ expansion as Mayor of London Sadiq Khan answered questions in the borough.

During Peoples Question Time at Ealing Town Hall on 2nd March, a group of protestors gathered outside to voice their opinions over the coming expansion of ULEZ.

A group stood outside ahead of the meeting holding placards to show their objection to the expansion which will see all of the borough subject to the charge from 29th August.

Khan and Ealing Council Leader Peter Mason both took to Twitter to hit back at protestors, with Khan labelling them "conspiracy theorists".

Mason said: "The protest outside Peoples Question Time at Ealing Town Hall tonight wasn't an expression of freedom of speech.

"People from outside our borough came to our streets to spread racism, intimidation and hatred.

"This isn't democracy, this is barbarism. You're not welcome."

Many residents have rejected the suggestions of conspiracy theories and other dismissals, pointing out the financial concerns of ULEZ.

Sarah Holly replied to Khan on Twitter, saying: "It's poor people who can't afford to upgrade their vehicle. It's those same people you're going to tax £12.50/day during the cost-of-living crisis.

"It's not a conspiracy to say you're going to make things much harder for the lowest earners in society. Delay the ULEZ expansion."

Many also questioned why Mason had responded to this protest, but is yet to comment upon the protest which happened to try and save Warren Farm on 21st February.
