THE West London Islamic Centre located in West Ealing has been feeding those in need every night during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
As per the Islamic tradition, Muslims fast during the day and are only allowed to eat and drink once the sun sets, in what is known as the iftar meal.
The West Ealing based mosque has been buying food from restaurants and distributing it to those in need every evening since April 12.
They approached Manik Miah, the owner of Haweli, located just 10 minutes away, and offered to buy some meals.
However, Miah declined the offer of money and instead provided 120 meals free of charge and helped the mosque prepare them ahead of their distribution on Monday, May 10.
He told Nub News: "During the holy month of Ramadan, charity is even more important, and we try to do as much good as we can.
"The last 10 days in particular are extra special, as any charity work you do during those days is multiplied by 70 times.
"So, I thought it's a great opportunity for me to donate my time and provide some meals to people who need them."
This isn't the first time Miah and Haweli have been involved with charity work, as in December last year, the curry house was awarded the COVID Curry Hero Award by the Curry Life Magazine for its work with the Salvation Army and for donating meals to NHS workers during the first lockdown.
Miah added: "Similarly to when we helped out with the Salvation Army, it's very humbling and shocking to see how many people are vulnerable and need our help just to eat a decent meal."
