Ealing Council receive further funding for a new Green Ring in Northolt

By Joe Acklam 14th May 2023

Ealing Council are putting in a new 6.3km circular pathway to connect all six parks in Northolt using funding from the Mayor of London.

In April, the council received £746,125 in funding from the Mayor of London's Green and Resilient Spaces Fund to bring further green spaces to the borough and have now been given further funding for this new green route.

This funding is being used to start a series of greening projects to help improve the environment along the new 6.3km route, which will also help people cycle, walk, and scoot around between the six parks in Northolt, making them more accessible to residents.

Councillor Deirdre Costigan, Ealing Council's Deputy Leader, and cabinet member for climate action, said: "We are delighted that Ealing has secured this much-needed funding to support plans for developing Northolt Green Ring, adding to our existing active travel improvements in Northolt.

"The funding will help us to improve connections to six parks in Northolt, whether our residents are walking, cycling, or scooting, which we hope will encourage more active travel.

"It will also allow us to make the area greener, contributing to much cleaner air, and add sustainable drainage to prevent flooding, supporting our climate emergency actions.

"Finally, there will be exciting opportunities for the local community to take part in volunteering, planting, guided cycling and even walking tours."

The pathway will be ready to use by March 2025 to help the public circumnavigate the borough's green spaces.

This project is part of a wider scheme known as "Visions for Northolt" in which residents can help given suggestions to the council, which hundreds of residents and businesses have already got involved with.
