EALING Council had a link to a 'hardcore porn' site instead of a local drama school on its Ealing Families Directory page.

The Council's listing for the Barbara Speake Stage School had been taken over by a link to a pornography website instead.

The East Acton school had in fact closed down in June last year and the porn website appears to have been using the school's old website since last August.

Journalist Sonia Poulton took to Twitter to share that she had discovered the link to the adult site.

She tweeted: "Ealing Council has a link to hardcore porn on family and children's page in place of a child's drama school.

"I've discovered that it has been there for a year.

"I informed the press office who have chosen one not to comment or two not to remove it.

"What if a child clicks that link?"

Following the Twitter thread, Ealing Council proceeded to remove the link altogether.

A Council spokesperson said: "The website which has been compromised is a third-party site which is not owned or managed by the council in any way.

"A link to this website appeared in the council's extensive directory of services for parents.

"The council had no means of knowing about the change in content on the third-party site.

"As soon as we were made aware of where the inappropriate content was, we acted to remove the link from our directory listings.

"Any malicious content on the council's websites can be reported to us by email at [email protected].

"We will always take swift action where appropriate."
