This year's winners of Ealing Civic Society's award scheme were announced by Chris Griffin, CEO of the Museum of Brands, at a 'sell out' ceremony at Open Ealing on Tuesday (26 October) evening.

Since 1989 the Society has given awards to recognise and encourage building and environmental projects that make a noteworthy contribution to the community in the Borough of Ealing.

Winners received a certificate and an award, with the winner able to display a specially designed Society plaque.

The winning projects this year were:

AWARD to: Hanwell Station, W7.

A Grade II listed building which dates back to 1877 has been repaired and beautifully restored by TfL and Ealing Council, giving step free access in readiness for the new Elizabeth Line.

COMMENDED: Ealing Fields High School, W5.

Refurbishment and extension of a Grade II listed convent building to create a new well equipped school which is part of the Twyford CofE Academies Trust.

Other shortlisted entries were:

- Ada Lovelace High School, W5

- Bollo Brook Park, W3

- 39 Kenilworth Road, W5

Ealing Civic Society Chairman, Ann Chapman, was delighted with the standard and variety of the entries, despite this year's restrictions.

She explained that the aim of the award was to promote and celebrate good design across all kinds of building and landscape.

Full details may be seen at the Ealing Civic Society's website.
