Ealing chief executive to stand down by Christmas
The chief executive of Ealing Council will resign after almost six years in the role.
Paul Najsarek joined the West London borough in February 2016 after being a council chief in Bolton for just five months.
The Daily Mail reported in 2016 that Mr Najsarek had received a £90,000 pay-off after leaving his job in Bolton, where he had been paid £160,000.
In his role as Ealing chief executive, he was paid £170,000.
Mr Najsarek was also health and social spokesperson for the society of local authority chief executives and senior managers during his time at Ealing.
Mr Najsarek said that he was proud to have helped deliver the council's plans on affordable housing and council companies being responsible for waste and housing during his time there.
He will leave his post in December, with an interim chief expected to be appointed by Ealing Council on December 14.
In a statement announcing his resignation, Mr Najsarek said: "I have mixed emotions about leaving Ealing, a borough I have loved, but this felt like the right time to be moving on to new challenges now that the worst aspects of the Covid pandemic seem to have passed.
"It has been a privilege to work with so many excellent people: our great community, council staff, my senior management team, members of the council and all of our brilliant partners.
"I believe that through our efforts we not only helped protect our community but put measures in place to help it thrive in the future."
