It is Climate Action Week and Ealing Council's Dr Bike is hosting sessions across the borough to equip residents with tools and tips that empower them to tackle the road on two wheels.

In the Dr Bike sessions detailed below there will be basic cycle maintenance advice plus handy tips, with trained mechanics on-hand to carry out minor repairs on the spot and give advice on looking after a bike to keep you riding all year round.

Councillor Deirdre Costigan cabinet member for climate action said: "Cycling is a brilliant way for local people to take climate action. Reducing the number of cars on our roads in favour of bikes for the whole family can help us cut the harmful emissions that contribute towards the climate crisis and dirty air.

Councillor Josh Blacker cabinet member for healthy lives said: "But it has also been proven time and time again that getting on your bike can be hugely beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing. So, if you want to give cycling a try and need an extra helping hand to get going then come along one of our Dr Bike sessions, which take place on regular Saturdays throughout the borough and can help boost your confidence and knowledge."

The council is supporting residents to cycle, walk, scoot and take public transport wherever possible with a huge range of new measures and investment – from new cycle lanes, bus routes and bike hangers, to rollout of school streets to help families cycle and walk to school as an alternative to driving. There is also a commitment to delivering new electric vehicle charging pointsand supporting the green economy across the borough.
