A London flat has gone on the market for £875. The only catch? You will have to sleep next to the fridge.

The studio property in Norholt, West London is so cramped that you could open the fridge from the single bed.

Photos of the flat uploaded to the property website OpenRent show a small kitchen opposite the bed. Another photo taken in the bathroom has a dirty sink.

The listing said: "We are proud to offer this delightful one bedroom, one bathroom studio flat in a great location … Viewing highly recommended."

The property is offered as either furnished or unfurnished – the choice is down to tenants. There is no deposit needed for the property, and parking is available.

How to solve London's steep renting market has been widely debated in West London recently.

In recent years, the borough of Ealing has seen plans for a number of new developments, including the Southall Gas Works site and Perceval House, the current seat of Ealing Council.

Planning permission to knock down Perceval House and build seven tower blocks up to 26 storeys high was granted in December 2021.

But large housing projects in the borough have been criticised by the Ealing MP Rupa Huq who has branded them as "rabbit hutches."

Dr Huq spoke at meetings of Ealing Council's planning committee to object to the Perceval House proposal. Explaining why she chose to speak at the committee, she said: "Because [the development] is at the very centre of Ealing. They're stealing our sky, literally, it will block out the light." She added: "The skyline will be ruined forever."

Tower blocks springing up in parts of the borough have proved controversial and campaigners have called for more affordable housing to be built in the borough.

The landlord of the flat has been contacted for comment.
