ALMOST 50,000 Ealing residents have been vaccinated in the period from May 24 to June 11.
Surge testing and vaccinations were announced in Ealing on May 24 because of an increase in the Delta variant.
Residents were asked to take part in extra testing and get their vaccine in order to help stop the spread of the variant.
Many residents stepped up, with 24,407 first doses and 23,527 second doses being administered during that 18-day period – a total of 47,934.
Since the first COVID vaccination that took place in Ealing in December, 311,974 jabs have been administered so far (as of June 11).
Residents are still being asked to step up and get their vaccine, with those over 23 now eligible.
Council leader Peter Mason said: "I had my vaccine last week and, since then, I've felt a lot safer.
"I know from having it I am less likely to be affected by COVID-19, but also that I am helping to protect those most vulnerable to the virus.
"I have been amazed at the massive turnout of residents to get tested and to get vaccinated.
"Please continue to get yours done and encourage your loved ones to do the same."
