A 27-year-old man dies in hospital following stabbing in Greenford

Met Police confirm that a stabbing in Greenford yesterday (11 March) evening has resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man.

Police were called at 5:31pm on Monday, 11 March to reports of a man found injured in a car in Sudbury Heights Avenue.

Officers responded with paramedics and found a 27-year-old man with stab wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

Enquiries are ongoing to inform his next of kin.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Shirley who leads the investigation for one of the Met's homicide investigation teams said: "While this investigation remains in its early stages extensive enquiries are already under way to identify who is responsible for this murder.

"Officers have been on scene gathering evidence and securing any relevant CCTV which may assist us building a picture of what took place.

"However, I would appeal to anyone in the area who saw or witnessed events, or any local residents we have yet to speak to who has footage which may captured the incident to get in touch immediately."

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson responsible for policing in the West Area Command Unit which covers Greenford said: "I understand and share the shock that this incident will cause local residents.

"I want to reassure the community the specialist officers are working diligently to piece together the events of this incident and to apprehend whoever is responsible.

"You will see more officers in and around the area in the days following this incident, including local police.

"If you have any concerns, please speak to them, or if you can help with the investigation then call 101 immediately."

There have been no arrests at this early stage of the investigation.

A crime scene is in place and officers remain in the area.
