St Benedict's Deputy Head wins national award for pastoral care
The Deputy Head at St Benedict's School has won a national award for pastoral care in education.
Luke Ramsden, who has been Deputy Head at the Ealing school since 2016, has received an award from the National Association for Pastoral Care in Education (NAPCE) for his extensive work in 'Raising Awareness about Pastoral Care'.
As one of the leading safeguarding practitioners in the country Luke has communicated passionately about the subject of pastoral care, reaching out to a national audience. He is regularly invited to speak at safeguarding conferences about pastoral care and has also appeared in webinars and podcasts, offering expertise in how to support students, parents, governors and colleagues.
The NAPCE's citation for his award reads: "Luke is passionate about all aspects of the safeguarding and pastoral care of young people. His tireless and enthusiastic support of The Schools Consent Project, most recently culminating is remarkable and his informed approach and practical insight have been instrumental in the SCP's latest development of a full through-school consent curriculum. This in turn will support the wider cultural change that we are all looking to achieve not just in our schools but in society as a whole when approaching the problems of sexual abuse and consent."
Luke said: "I am delighted to receive this award. My wonderful colleagues at St Benedict's have worked hard to ensure that our school has an excellent reputation for pastoral care, and it is a privilege to be able to share that and work in collaboration with many other organisations and schools, for the happiness and wellbeing of students across the country."
The NAPCE national awards are sponsored by the Association of the School and College Leaders.
