Acton Mosque to hold the first hustings for Ealing Central & Acton candidates running in this year's general election.

Outreach West London in collaboration with Acton Mosque on Oldham Terrace will be hosting the hustings tonight (Monday, 24 June) at 7:30pm - 9:30pm, free of charge for all.

Residents will have the opportunity to hear from candidates on why they should vote for them and ask questions.

Those confirmed to be attending are: Stephen Balogh (SDP), Julie Carter (Independent), Kate Crossland (Green), Dr Rupa Huq (Labour), Nada Jarche (Workers Party), Alastair Mitton (Liberal Democrats), James Windsor-Clive (Conservatives).

Reform UK's candidate for Ealing Central & Acton, Felix Orrell, is the only candidate not attending.

Constituents can present questions to the parliamentary hopefuls by emailing: [email protected]

A chair will select which questions are first presented to the panel, followed by questions from the audience in attendance.

Speaking to Nub News, Outreach West London say: "The importance of hustings are quite numerous.

"Firstly it provides members of the community to engage directly with those candidates that are vying to represent them in Parliament and understand their qualities both personally and politically, especially when they're under pressure.

"Attendees can also hold the candidates to account for their previous record and conduct as well as their parties policies.

"Hustings allow constituents to directly compare the candidates performances and make a better judgment in terms of which is the best candidate to represent them.

"It provides an opportunity for them to ask questions pertaining to their own lives and the issues that are most important to themselves."

Adding: "Interactions and debates between the candidates on key issues can be quite revealing as to which of them holds the position most close to the voter.

"Any undecided voters can potentially become better informed of what each candidate offers and help them make a more considered decision."

Acton Mosque is located at 2-5 Oldham Terrace, W3 6LS.
