PTA at Grange Primary School in Ealing is selling Christmas trees as part of its fundraiser
The PTA at Grange Primary School in South Ealing is selling 'affordable and sustainable' Christmas trees in order to raise funds.
Usually the PTA holds an annual Christmas fair that generates an income of around £10,000 that is invested in improving school facilities.
However, this year due to the pandemic, they've had to resort to alternative ways of fundraising.
One of these is through the sale of Nordmann Fir Christmas trees that are sourced from a sustainable farm in Scotland.
The trees range from £25 to £65, which is £10 less than full commercial value.
Vice-Chair of Grange PTA, Jo Wiltshire told Nub News: "That doesn't mean that the quality of trees is any different from those sold by major and local retailers.
"We can afford to sell them cheaper as we buy them in large quantities and unlike garden centres, don't need to make a large mark up."
You've got to hurry though; all orders must be placed by Sunday November 22.
Once you have chosen your tree, you can then pick a time slot for collection on December 5.
"We've tried to make sure that all COVID-19 guidelines are followed, which is why we have specific time slots people can book in order to collect their trees," Wiltshire added.
So far the PTA has raised £900, which is still a long way off the £10,000 it raises normally during the holidays.
For that reason they've also set up a Christmas Catalogue, where people can purchase festive artisan homemade products from the comfort of their home.
The mum of two said: "Despite the coronavirus, school funding requirements are more than ever, having to rethink their learning strategies and invest in online learning.
"As a PTA we try to do everything we can to raise funds and help."
