Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery
Culture
19th Nov 2024 - 9th Mar 2025
Tuesday 19th November
A retrospective of Katherine Gili's sculptures launched at Pitzhanger Manor this month spanning 40 years of the award winning artist's career.
Gili, who forges forms from steel and paper sculptures is a protégée of the legendary Anthony Caro, who himself exhibited at Pitzhanger last year.
Language of the Physical: Katherine Gili Sculpture brings together a range of sculptures demonstrating her shift from the industrial aesthetic of steel sculpture to an increasingly sensual approach to abstract form. Gili's sculptures are held in prominent collections, including Arts Council and Henry Moore Institute. Her sculpture Vertical IV (1975) was recently displayed for the first time at Tate Britain as part of their ongoing collection display, Modern and Contemporary British Art (1965–1980), highlighting Gili's significant contribution to British sculpture.
The exhibition runs until 9th March 2025 at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery Ealing Green, London W5 5EQ.
