Hanwell Town have now gone four games without a win in the Southern League Premier South after falling 2-1 at Hartley Wintney.

Hartley were playing their first game under new manager Ian Selley and second half goals from Paul Hodges and Zidan Akers got him off to a fine start.

Dwayne Duncan scored two minutes time to give the Geordies a glimmer of hope on an afternoon where their goalkeeper Hugo Sobte had to go off injured.

Hanwell's rocky period has seen them fall down to eighth in the table and 12 points behind the top two who they were looking to chase down a few weeks ago.

After 12 minutes Kingsley Eshun set up Paul Hodges to have a go, but Sobte was able to quickly react and get himself behind the ball to make a save.

The Geordies then went close as Sam Saunders delivered a free-kick from the right and Lewis Cole rose highest in the middle and headed just over the top.

After 23 minutes Danny Rowe lined up a free-kick for Hanwell and he struck it so sweetly and left the 'keeper routed to the spot but it clattered against the bar.

It was punch for punch in the opening stages as Hartley came back with a chance of their own as Eshun got down the left and laid it back to Tom Leggett and his effort from outside the area went just wide of the upright.

There were claims for a penalty for Hanwell that were waved away, but they kept going and Sham Barnwell fed Kweku Lucan and his low shot whistled just beyond the post.

Shortly before half-time Akers drove in from the right and bore down on goal and Sobte did well to push his save away at the near post.

Then after half-time Eshun was once again the danger down the left wing and he cut it back for Hodges to coolly roll into the bottom corner.

Seven minutes after the first goal went in, Hartley doubled their lead as Akers challenged for the ball with Sobte and the 'keeper went down and as the referee said no foul, the midfielder was able to tap it into the empty net.

After a long period of being down injured and receiving treatment after the goal, Sobte had to be stretchered off and George Nicholas, who is a midfielder, was forced to go in goal.

Hanwell took this and pushed for a route back into the game, Kain Adom escaped down the left and shot over after 75 minutes and quickly after Harry Rush also fired over the top from a corner.

They did eventually pull one back as Duncan got on the end of a corner and headed it home, but with one minute left it was too late to spark a comeback.
