Conor Lynch scored the only goal of the game as Hanwell Town returned to winning ways 1-0 against Plymouth Parkway in the Southern League Premier South.
The first half was a slow affair in which chances were at a premium, with both sides clinging onto half chances.
After the break Lynch got a massive goal for the Geordies and they managed to see the game out without any major scares.
Hanwell have won three points in the league for the first time for seven matches and the result moves them just three points off the play-off places.
The Geordies had the first sight of goal after four minutes as Kain Adom slid Lynch away, he turned on the edge of the area but dragged his shot and made it simple for Adam Parkes to make the save.
Parkway then went up the other end and came a whisker away from opening the scoring as Austen Booth charged down the right and dug out a cross to Ryan Lane and he headed narrowly over the top.
Booth was at it again when his raking cross field ball picked out Lane on the left, he came inside and unleashed a fierce drive which were tipped onto the crossbar by the fingertips of Joshua Strizovic.
Lynch again came close when a lovely Hanwell move worked the ball into him on the edge of the area, and his effort flicked off a defender and forced the 'keeper to react quickly to make the save.
Both sides came close late in the first half as first Aaron Goulty got forward on the counter and shot over the bar, and then at the other end Adom's fierce drive was well saved by Parkes.
After 61 minutes Hanwell pounced on a Plymouth error as a poor back pass allowed Mark Waters in behind, he rounded Parkes and unselfishly rolled the ball across goal for Lynch to put into an empty net.
The Geordies could quickly have doubled their advantage when Adom ran clear down the left and took aim, but just shot wide of the post.
Parkway then began to lay siege to the Hanwell goal, but the hosts stood up to the pressure and Dwayne Duncan was a man mountain at the back, heading everything that came into the box away.
Booth managed to get in down the right and his deflected cross found Ben Seymour six yards out, but he was quickly closed down and he miscued his effort over the top.
With ten minutes to play Hanwell countered quickly through Adom and he slid in Sean Moore, who steadied himself but failed to hit the target.
