Shomari Barnwell's goal and assist meant Hanwell Town completed a second half turnaround to win 2-1 against Cray Valley and progress to the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The Geordies were a goal down at half-time after Daniel Bennett scored for the hosts just before the break.

But goals from Kewku Lucan and Barnwell in a memorable second half put Hanwell into the next round.

Hanwell will find out their third qualifying round opponents on Tuesday, but they are now just two wins away from the first-round proper.

Harry Rush rattled the Cray Valley crossbar after seven minutes having found space on the edge of the penalty area and Jack Hutchinson shot just wide from the follow up chance.

After a strong opening 20 minutes Cray came back into it and either side of the half hour mark had two opportunities but failed to hit the target on both occasions.

A Cray Valley corner was well met in the middle but Hugo Sobte got up well to tip it over the crossbar to give the hosts another corner.

But after threatening, on 38 minutes the breakthrough came when Cray Valley worked the ball well down the right-hand side and Bennett tucked it away to give the home side the lead.

Four minutes later it could have been lights out, but valiant Hanwell defending saw two shots blocked and then a third whistled over the top.

The Geordies managed to get too half-time just one goal down but came out of the dressing room quickly and after 49 minutes Lucan got onto the end of Barnwell's low cross to level the score.

Barnwell was the provider for the first and then got onto the scoresheet himself after 62 minutes when he got onto the end of a cross but struck the post before tucking it away with the second bite of the cherry.

Sobte defended the Hanwell lead well, making a few smart stops to ensure the game didn't go to a replay and after defending a stoppage time free-kick Hanwell finally heard the whistle to confirm their victory.
