After Councillor Gary Malcolm attended Ealing Council's Cabinet meeting on 19th January, where lighting concerns were being discussed, he slammed the Council for ignoring evidence that the lighting needs to be improved.

The Council's Cabinet report (item 11, page 187) shows a photograph (see the attached photo) and at the meeting there was clear testimony from a resident showing that the Fishers Lane is not very well lit as she no longer felt as safe walking down Fishers Lane at night due to the lack of cars driving by.

The Ealing branch of Samaritans today celebrates turning 50 years old.

On Friday, 21 January 1972 in the basement of a condemned church in Windsor Road, the founding members of Ealing Samaritans took their first phone calls from people seeking emotional support.

A pensioner who volunteers at Ealing Hospital has turned 100, making her the NHS's oldest volunteer.

Beryl Carr, 100, celebrated her birthday on January 14 and still volunteers at the Friends' Cafe inside Ealing hospital where she works as a cashier.
