Liberal Democrats delivered a shock by-election win in blow to PM and Conservatives.

The North Shropshire parliamentary by- election last night, was won by Liberal Democrat Helen Morgan by nearly 6,000 votes, taking the seat from the Conservative party with a huge swing of over 34%.

This followed the huge by-election win for new Liberal Democrat MP Sarah Green in Chesham & Amersham in June against the Tories.

Ealing Liberal Group Leader Councillor Gary Malcolm said: "This by-election result shows that the Lib Dems are on the up and are looking to expand the number of Councillors on Ealing Council.

"People are annoyed with the Tory government laws who are making it easier to build tall buildings and not supporting residents properly during Covid.

"People deserve a fair deal where everyone plays by the same rules – including those in Downing Street. We will fight for that fair deal with safe streets, quality healthcare and good schools."
