AS of today (August 13), Ealing Labour still has not published the results of the consultation for nine Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) schemes, nor explained why the results have still not been released.

That is 20 days after the official deadline of July 23.

Liberal Democrats are demanding an immediate release of these results.

The delaying of such means we suspect that Ealing Labour is working out ways for them to retain many of these LTNs.

The simple and proper way is for the Council to see whether the majority of residents who responded to the consultation want to have their LTN removed or kept.

There should also be no salami slicing (where an LTN is split into smaller versions of the LTNs).

Liberal Democrat Councillor Jon Ball is demanding the answers to three key questions: "What is taking so long for Ealing Labour to publish the results?

"Are they trying to fiddle with the result because they do not like what they see?

"When will they share the results with residents, local businesses, and fellow Councillors?"

Cllr Ball added: "I understand that the Council has a real time view of the results from the questionnaire software they use, and so it should not be difficult for Ealing Labour to publish the results.

"By continuing to delay it means that people will become even more cynical of the motives of Ealing Council."

*This article is part of the weekly column provided to Ealing Nub News by the leader of the Ealing Liberal Democrats, Councillor Gary Malcolm (in this instance written by Cllr Jon Ball).

  • The leaders of the other two main Ealing parties (Labour and Conservatives) have also been offered that opportunity, but so far have chosen not to take it.
