Ealing-born Bukayo Saka scored two goals on his World Cup debut as England ran out 6-2 winners in their Group B opener against Iran.

The 21-year-old winger was picked in the starting 11 by Gareth Southgate as England began their 2022 World Cup campaign on Monday afternoon.

Saka lit up the game and scored twice in a statement win for the Three Lions at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Saka opened his account in the 43rd minute as he fired a fine volley into the top right-hand corner of the net after Harry Maguire had knocked down a corner to him on the edge of the area.

His second came just after the hour mark and it was a fine solo effort as he ghosted beyond two defenders in the penalty area before tucking the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-0.

The goals were his fifth and sixth in an England shirt, having scored three goals in the qualifying campaign for this tournament, and his first in a major international tournament, having not scored in last summer's European Championship.

England cruised to victory in Doha with a comprehensive win as Jude Bellingham, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jack Grealish got the other goals.
