Brentford Women take all three points in a seven goal thriller against Clapton Community at the Gtech Stadium. 

Ashley Cheatley scores a hat-trick on her Gtech debut, with a brace from Chloe Logie and goals from Nikki Woods and Samantha Read. 

First-half

The Bees opened the game up in under seven minutes through Cheatley after Webb played a wonderful ball for Logie, who then beat the keeper and found her strike partner to tap it in. 

It only took two minutes for Brentford to get another as Read managed to kick it past Janell Mathurin's goal following a corner from Woods that bounced around in the box.  

In the 13th minute, Logie gets her own goal, this time Cheatley setting her up to make it 3-0 to the home side. 

Credit should go to the Brentford defence who cleared Clapton's corner and allowed the forwards to expose the unorganised defence on the counterattack. 

Despite it being 3-0, Clapton were not giving out and in the 14th minute Emily Link had her shot at goal saved by Evie Witek after the striker got in behind. 

Later in the 24th minute, Logie had a chance to make it four for Brentford after Freya Worsley plays in a perfectly weighted ball in behind, but the forward's shot bounced off the post. 

The best chance of the game for Clapton came in the 26th minute after Mim Chadwick caught Chloe Webb out and was let through one-on-one with Witek who parried the strike to keep it at 3-0 to end the half.

Half-time 

The first half ended with the home side leading 3-0, thanks to goals from Cheatley, Read and Logie.  

Clapton had a couple of chances but the defence and Witek denied the visitors on a couple of occasions, but Brentford would have went into the dressing room thinking they should have been up by more.

Second-half 

This time it was the away side who kicked things off in the 53rd minute with Clapton substitute Amiee Shaw failing to direct her header on target from Marta Casanovas' cross. 

However, a minute later Brentford made it 4-0 through Cheatley who picked up her second of the game after Woods played her in behind for the new signing to slot it past Mathurin. 

In the 69th minute Woods got in on the action to make it 5-0 and widen Brentford's lead with Cheatley putting a dangerous ball in the box which Clapton failed to deal with and were punished by the attacker. 

Despite being 5-0 down, the Clapton Community fans kept the levels up and were very vocal after Cheatley was brought down for a freekick outside the box, which the fans believed should not have been called in the 75th minute. 

After many chances at goal, Cheatley finally bagged her hat-trick in the 81st minute to cap off her brilliant Gtech debut and make it 6-0. The ball landed to her in the box and the striker had time to set her feet and fire it past Mathurin for her 16th goal of the season. 

To close things off in the 90th minute, Logie grabbed her brace and made it 7-0 to add salt to Clapton wounds.  

In the lead up to the goal, 17-year-old substitute making her Gtech debut, Habeebat Gbajabiamila, ran past the Clapton left hand side and shot at goal but Mathurin parried it onto Logie's feet who put it away.

Full-time 

Karleigh Osborne will be pleased with his side's third ever appearance at the Gtech Stadium where they kept a clean sheet and extended their lead at the top of the LSE Regional WFL Division One North.  

Captaining Brentford in the dominant victory was Mollie Holmes who told Nub News after the match that the result was "perfect". 

Holmes said: "Result wise perfect, we couldn't have asked for more and in the end I was saying 'keep the clean sheet' because we seem to keep conceding one which ruins it a little bit."  

Despite taking up a small section of the stands, the Clapton Community fans were loud enough to be heard on the pitch which the 26-year-old admitted she is used to. 

"The good thing is I have played Clapton a few times so I am used to them at this point but I use it as a bit of motivation for myself to try and shut them up when they're cheering, or at least antagonise them so they get a little bit annoyed, but I definitely use it as fuel," Holmes said. 

When asked what Osborne was telling the squad during half-time when they were up 3-0, Holmes explained: "That we should have been up by more and that we got away with it at three-nil , in terms of starting ruthless. 

"But performance wise we weren't at it at all (in the first half), I think the second half saw us move the ball a lot better and that is where the other four goals came." 

Now in her tenth season and one of the senior players in the side, Holmes is a role model for the rest of the team and some of the younger players, like Gbajabiamila.  

Speaking on the youngster making her Gtech debut, Holmes said: "Just enjoy it, soak it up. I think it is easier the second time personally for me, so it is just about making sure they are comfortable and there is no expectation."  

She added: "Just go on, enjoy it, have thousands of fans cheer you on and I think Habs (Habeebat) did that and smashed it."
