Brentford Womens are running rampant in the FA Cup after a 12-1 win over Tilehurst Panthers at Bedfont Sports Club yesterday (22 September), securing their place in the third round.

Over the previous two rounds, The Bees have a combined scoreline of 30-2 with the first round seeing Brentford knock out North Leigh 18-1 away from home.

Brentford stars, Nikki Woods and Chloe Logie, netted a hat-trick with Ashley Cheatley continuing her brilliant start with her new team grabbing a brace, as well goals from the rest of the squad.

First Half

Opening things up immediately was Woods for the home side with a goal in under 30 seconds, after Logie played her in on the right with the winger cooly slotting it past Emily Bell's near post for her 7th goal of the season.

Cheatley found the back of the net to make it 2-0 for the home side after pressuring Tilehurst defenders throughout the opening 15 minutes of game and it was after this goal where the momentum shifted for Brentford who never looked back.

It was then Woods setting up Logie for Brentford's third in the 27th minute of the game. It all started from a good defensive play from Maddie Phillips who released Woods on the right-hand side who then crosses it in for the striker who did the rest.

Moments after in the 29th, Brentford made it 4-0 after Phillip's corner is unable to be cleared from the visitors and Woods is there to tap it in for her second of the game.

Not only were the Brentford forwards getting on the scoresheet, with Phillips too, after she scored The Bee's fifth to make it 5-0 in the 30th minute.

Captain Mollie Holmes finds Phillips bursting down the right and threads a perfectly weighted pass for her to guide it past Bell.

In the 37th minute, Woods' free kick, after she was fouled around 30 yards from the goal, was dealt with by Bell but led to a corner for Brentford, where they made it 6-0 moments later to round off the first half.

Phillips whipped it in and after a couple of bounces within the six-yard box it lands to Woods who heads it straight at Bell who failed to grab a hold of it and gave the Brentford Womens winger her second of the game.

Half Time

It could have been a wider lead for Brentford Women who put on a dominating first half display. Tilehurst Panthers struggled to deal with Brentford's attacking overloads and high press when in possession.

Woods and Cheatley's pace caused problems for the backline as well as Logie's hold up play.

Despite not being troubled too much defensively, Brentford's midfield and backline regained possession quickly and won almost every aerial ball. Full backs, Phillips and Chloe Webb supported the attack well with runs in behind to stretch Tilehurst out and give their forwards more space to operate with.

Second Half

Like in the first half, Brentford wasted no time getting things underway with Logie putting away a pass from Phillips in 47th minute to make it 7-0 and give the right back her second assist of the game.

Brentford made it 8-0 after Woods' cross found Freya Worsley's head in the 50th, for the midfielder's first of the season.

10 minutes later, Woods smashed it into the top left corner after she found the ball in opposition box to make it 9-0 and grab her hat-trick of the afternoon.

It didn't take long for Logie to join in on the action, securing her hat-trick minutes later with a shot across goal that bounced off the post, hit the Tilehurst keeper's head, and found the back of the net, making it 10-0 to Brentford.

With less than 30 minutes to go, Karleigh Osborne makes a triple change, taking off Phillips, Worsley and Woods for Kirsty Matthews, Eleonora Cottrell and Sophie Troth.

Not stopping, Brentford made it 11-0 after Logie picked out Chealtey in the box, who had a lot of work to do before slotting it past Bell for her second of the match.

Down but not out, Tilehurst nearly nick a goal from the tie after their substitute striker goes one-on-one against Evie Witek but failed to convert in the 75th minute.

Brentford subs, Cottrell and Paula Holguin combine to make 12-0 to The Bees with Holguin setting up Cottrell in the closing minutes of the game.

In the end, the visitors secured a consolation goal through Georgia Hayes, who cut to her right and fired a shot past Witek into the roof of the net, making it 12-1 and concluding the FA Cup second-round match.

Full Time

Although Brentford failed to keep a clean sheet, it was an otherwise perfect game from the home side who did not take their foot off the gas from minute one, with everyone including the substitutes, making the scoresheet.

Reacting to her side progressing to the third round of the FA Cup, Nikki Wood said: "I thought it was a really good performance...we're a bit disappointed to concede one but that just goes to show how ruthless and hard we are on ourselves.

"Loges (Chole Logie) did really well to win the ball, hunt it down from the front early on, saw me in space and I managed to slot it home."
