Fire engines being called out to emergencies are being delayed by traffic calming measures – and in Ealing the hold-ups have nearly doubled in a year.

The number of callouts delayed by traffic calming initiatives increased from 59 to 106 between 2020 and 2021, statistics published by the London Fire Brigade (LFB) show.

Work starts on new Uxbridge Road cycle lane

Work has started to create a new cycle lane on a section of Uxbridge Road from Hanwell to Southall.

The new lane is likely to be complete and ready this summer and will see almost the whole length of the route protected with flexible posts fixed to the road, known as 'wands', or with completely separate cycle tracks.

Ealing marks Holocaust Memorial Day this Thursday in Walpole Park

A ceremony will take place this Thursday, 27 January in Ealing's Walpole Park to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2022.

Holocaust Memorial Day is held on 27 January each year to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under the Nazi's persecution in the 1930s and 40s.

Ealing's volunteer clean-up squad, LAGER Can, set sail on a 'litter cruise' in Southall last Saturday.

Teaming up with the Canal & River Trust, the crew litter-picked the Grand Union towpath for a mile and a half from Adelaide Dock to Bulls Bridge.

Swan saved from tracks at South Acton station

The swan stopped trains at South Acton station.

A swan was rescued from South Acton train station on Monday after running out of steam on the tracks.

Crowds gathered on the platforms to watch as TfL staff ushered the tired bird out of harm's way as trains waited for the track to clear.

A Twitter account which was created to document the construction of Brentford Community Stadium has had to defend its name, following a drone incident at Saturday's Brentford FC match.

The Bees match against the Wolverhampton Wanderers was halted for 15 minutes in the first half after a drone was flown over Brentford Community Stadium.
