Maggot infestation in tenant's flat sees Ealing Council fined £700

Ealing Council has been fined after it took nine months to make repairs that led to a maggot infestation in a tenant's flat.

The Housing Ombudsman fined Ealing Council £700 after failing to fix a ventilation unit and pipework that resulted in maggots crawling into the unnamed tenant's bathroom.

The Paralympian basketball player and television presenter Ade Adepitan MBE will be visiting Ealing in April to talk about his life and work with Lorraine Heggessey, former Controller of BBC1.

He is the latest guest in the 'Pitzhanger Perspectives' series hosted by Pitzhanger Manor, with previous guests including author, political commentator and educationalist Anthony Seldon and TV presenters Angellica Bell and Konnie Huq who discussed growing up in Ealing.

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery has acquired a rare set of prints of Roman frescoes that can now be seen on display in The Breakfast Room.

Ancient Roman frescoes excavated from the Villa Negroni in July 1977 are believed to have greatly impressed John Soane during his visit to Rome the following year.

Women in Ealing are angry at the looming closure of a local women-only gym as their religious beliefs make it the only place they feel comfortable to exercise.

Female members of the Southall Sports Centre expressed their heartbreak at the gym's permanent closure this week and said it will leave them nowhere to workout.
