FIREFIGHTERS rescued a woman from a second-floor flat roof in West Ealing last night.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat above a shop on Northfield Avenue in West Ealing, at 10:47pm last night.

Firefighters used a nine-metre ladder to rescue a woman off the roof, a further two men had left the building before the Brigade arrived.

They were all treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

Part of the first floor of a six-roomed flat was damaged by the fire, which was discovered by a resident who raised the alarm after smelling burning.

The fire was under control by 11:45pm.

Fire crews from Ealing, Acton and Southall fire stations attended the scene.

The fire is believed to have been accidental but the exact cause has been recorded as undetermined.
