A man from West London has been shot dead on holiday in Jamaica yesterday afternoon according to police in Jamaica.
Sean Patterson, 33, a personal trainer from West London was found by police officers in the parish of St James with gunshot wounds after witnesses reportedly heard "loud explosions".
Patterson was taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital, but were unable to revive him according to the force.
Local media has reported that Patterson was standing on a pool deck in Bogue Hill when he was approached by a man with a gun around 11:45am local time, he was then chased and shot multiple times, a 34-year-old man has been taken into custody.
A Foreign Office spokesperson told PA Media that they were "supporting the family of a British man who died in Jamaica and are in contact with the local authorities".
It was reported that there were 198 murders in St James during 2022 and Prime Minister Andrew Holness extended a state of emergency last month, which runs until 11th January, in response to a rise in gang violence in Jamaica.
This state of emergency allows authorities to search buildings and arrest people without a warrant to try and reduce the crime linked to gang activity.
