WENZEL'S the Bakers have opened a new store in Ealing Broadway, making it their fifth in total throughout the borough.

Following the branches already established in West Ealing, Hanwell, Greenford and Northolt, Wenzel's opened its newest location on February 24 at 35 The Broadway.

The bakery chain which has over 60 stores across Greater London, announced the opening via Facebook: "Hey Ealing, we're your new neighbours.

"And we bring offerings of fresh bread, cakes and other doughy good stuff."

Local residents took to the comments with lots of positive responses.

Michael Smith who lives in Hanwell wrote: "We have a Wenzel's over the road from our house.

"Really delicious fresh bread and I often treat myself to a yummy bacon baguette at lunch time."

Jason Sohotra wrote: "I was just saying to my friend that Wenzel's is better than Greggs and wish they had one in Ealing Broadway."

Nick Tann added: "I've been in Wenzel's and they serve fresh, good quality stuff at a decent price."

Not everyone was enthusiastic about the opening though, with Paul McSharry writing: "I was just thinking, Ealing needs another sub-par sandwich shop."

Acton resident Olga Kappa, who works in Ealing Broadway, decided to check out the new bakery during her lunch break.

She bought a tuna and sweetcorn baguette to have for lunch and also a loaf of sourdough bread with olives to take home.

She told Nub News: "I was pleasantly surprised to find that as a pescatarian there were quite a few options available for me and everything seemed to be freshly made on the day.

"I did find the prices to be a tad overpriced though, the baguette cost £4.90 and the bread was £3.50, you can't exactly call it value for money.

"But it's another new store in the area and in my opinion that can only be a good thing."
