Voting in the 2022 UK Festival Awards is underway and Ealing has skin in the game.

Last week Ealing Nub News reported that Hanwell Hootie has been nominated to win Best Metropolitan Festival in the UK.

The prestigious competition, now in its seventeenth year, recently created the 'Best Metropolitan Festival' award to recognise the significant change in the festival landscape which over the last few years has seen city locations play host to an ever increasing number.

"This award is bestowed upon the festival that most convincingly made a city its own," wrote the awards organisers of the category, which last year was won by Tramlines Festival.

Hanwell Hootie is one of 30 festivals in the UK nominated for the Best Metropolitan Festival award this year, with rival events including Parklife, All Points East, Bristol Light Festival and, defending its 2021 title, Tramlines.

Decided by public vote, Hanwell Hootie now relies upon the many thousands of festival-goers who in the decade of the local event have helped make it a calendar staple for music lovers, far and wide.

Voting couldn't be simpler. Just follow this link, select one of the nominated festivals in each of the nine categories (paying special mind to number seven, Best Metropolitan Festival!), and provide contact details.

In a post on its social media page, Hanwell Hootie said: "We have been nominated for the 'best metropolitan festival in the UK' at the UK festival awards!!

"What a way to cap off 10 years of the Hootie if we can win this! We need you to vote for us! Show us some love for 10 years of amazing free music!"
