Visions for Northolt - Ealing residents are invited to the design table

By Isabel Millett 23rd Oct 2022

Residents and businesses in Ealing have been invited to share their views on initial designs for improvements to Northolt.

The council has asked for feedback on early-stage plans as part of its Visions for Northolt scheme by November 21. The regeneration programme, launched last year, aims to ensure that future investment in Northolt reflects the needs and wants of the local community, with needs and wants defined by the local community.

Ealing Council and Transport for London (TfL) secured more than £7.2million funding for roads, pavements and travel improvements for all road users and work is expected to start later this year.

Hundreds of residents and businesses have already told the council how they would like to see the money spent, including wider pavements, more pedestrian crossings, additional bicycle lanes and extra trees. Taking this into consideration, plans have so far been designed for Ealing Road and Kensington Road.

Councillor Deirdre Costigan, the council's cabinet member for climate action, said: "As part of our new Active Travel Charter, Ealing Council is putting resident's views firmly at the heart of all of our transport plans. We've had some brilliant ideas from local people about how we can improve roads and pavements in Northolt so that they are safer and more pleasant for everyone. From increasing opportunities for active travel with bike lanes and better pedestrian crossings, to improved access to public transport and safer turnings for motorists, this project should make a difference for all road users. I hope residents will take a look at the feedback we've had so far and help us to work together to make Northolt even better.
