A PAIR of University of West London (UWL) graduates are displaying their artwork at the Pop Up Gallery in Ealing Broadway shopping centre.

Lauren Mavromatis studied for a BA in Fashion & Textiles, on the Ealing based course with Pop Up Gallery founder, Kate Winskill.

Whilst studying, she discovered that fashion illustration became a key part of her work and is the area she has since developed.

"My art draws heavily from the stylised images produced to illustrate clothes, prints, emotions and attitudes," she said.

"I am also influenced by anime, fashion and gothic themes - there's a nod to Tim Burton in a lot of my work which I think are reflected in my drawings."

She uses pen and ink to hand-draw but also works in digital painting to add layers to her detailed and often dreamlike images.

Lauren creates brushstrokes, splatters and marks, and digitally applies them to create textures and depth.

You can see Lauren's work next to Kate Winskill's paintings in the gallery, which is located next to Tesco in the shopping centre.

Kate too loves fashion illustration, with the face and body being key to her work.

"Whilst studying at UWL we had a fabulous tutor in illustration, who really encouraged us to study the figure and use different techniques to develop our own style," said Kate.

Prices are accessible to all budgets, starting at £15 for prints and going up to £500 for big paintings.

The gallery is open seven days a week, 11am-5pm.
