The London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirms that two women were rescued from a third floor fire in Acton, west London.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended a fire on Park Road North, Acton.

LFB say part of a third floor flat in a 13-storey residential block was damaged by fire.

Two women were rescued from the flat by firefighters and have been taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering from smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is remains under investigation the LFB say.

The Brigade was called at 1:43pm and the fire was brought under control by 2:29pm.

Crews from Chiswick, Ealing, Hammersmith and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

People were advised to avoid the area whilst firefighters worked to bring the fire under control.

The Brigade's Control Officers received around 15 calls about the fire.
