Ealing Half Marathon Legacy, the community arm of Ealing Half Marathon, has merged with The Ealing Eagles Charitable Foundation to become a new local charity, WE RUN EALING.

The merger and new name are designed to help deliver more inclusive community-focused running events and related volunteering for people of all ages and abilities, the organisation says.

Since its inception over ten years ago, Ealing Half Marathon (EHM) Legacy has delivered various of local running events and community initiatives, like the installation of a new drinking fountain in Lammas Park.

During lockdown EHM arranged events to encourage Ealing residents to run or walk to local parks and more recently it helped bring the Blended Trails trail-running concept to the borough.

EHM also launched Ealing's first ever Food Bank Run, in partnership with GoodGym and parkrun.

The small, 'dedicated' team behind these events has now merged with the charity set up by successful local running club Ealing Eagles, and rebranded as WE RUN EALING.

WE RUN EALING says it will be collaborating with other running groups and organisations to deliver even more inclusive community-focused running initiatives that will be open to all.

Alongside the creation of the new charity, WE RUN EALING announces a brand new ambassador scheme ahead of Ealing's first ultramarathon.

The running group says it has more activities and 'exciting' new initiatives planned and is keen to recruit several volunteer ambassadors to help deliver its plans.

The WE RUN EALING ambassadors will be 'running champions of all abilities' representing each of Ealing's seven neighbourhoods – Acton, Central Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northfields, Perivale and Southall.

WE RUN EALING member and Ealing Running Mayor, Tom Kerry, said: "Our new ambassador scheme will bring together a group of diverse runners that encourage people of all abilities in their community to be more physically active through running."

Kerry added: "We are excited to be doing more activities than ever, both big and small.

"We are particularly looking forward to Ealing's first ever ultramarathon.

"We're calling it the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra. It's on Saturday, 23 March, starting in Gunnersbury Park, and promises to be a fantastic community event."

The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra will take runners and run/walkers on a scenic route through the parks, greenways and blueways of Ealing.

Those taking part a can chose a 50k or 25k route.
