The reviews are unanimous. "Awe-inspiring", wrote one critic. "Sublime", wrote another, and a third, awarding five stars, in his appreciation used a word we can't repeat.

Confirmed, though, is that the new production from Pecho Mama, Oedipus Electronica is the thing to see – and staging the premiere in Brentford this weekend, Watermans has guaranteed a no-quibble refund on the ticket price for any audience member who doesn't agree.

By pairing the domestic grit of present-day London with searing live 80s electronica, the Oedipus myth has been brought to life in a huge feat of technical design by theatre makers and musicians Mella Faye, Don Bird and Alex Stanford.

Undergoing IVF, Jocasta on stage shares her horrific story of violence, sex and loss: taking the Oedipus tale of motherhood and telling it through the lens of the mother.

Talking to Love London Culture about the production, Mella Faye, Artistic Director of Pecho Mama said: "Oedipus has all the ingredients we wanted; passion, fire, love, loss, and an unspeakable act of human nature. Motherhood is a huge theme for us again and this is Oedipus told from Jocasta's point of view.

"In theatre you can be at your most dangerous, and play with the deepest taboos. This is Oedipus for our generation and we don't hold back from going all the way. It's savage, raw, vulnerable and godly. Every moment of the story, performance and music is finely crafted to deliver unrelenting emotional impact."

Touring to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in less than a month, with aspirations of an August filled with reviews as equally raving and agreed in their praise, the brief chance to see the premiere of this musical production arrives this weekend in west London, at Brentford's very own Watermans.

Call the Box Office on 020 8232 1010 to book the last available tickets on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9, both performances at 8:30pm.
