THE Tesco petrol station at the Hoover building in Perivale has closed down.

A sign at the petrol pumps reads: "Your Petrol Filling Station is permanently closing on 17/04/21".

Local residents have taken to social media to voice their annoyance at the move.

Susan Tripp wrote on Facebook: "That's really sad – it was almost always the cheapest in the area and seemed to be doing a roaring trade.

"I don't understand the economics of it."

The reason why the petrol station has closed down is because a planning permission was approved in February to build flats on the site.

These will consist of 278 residential units, rising as high as 16 storeys tall and will be built in an art deco style similar to that of the Hoover Building.

The nearest petrol stations are now either the one near North Ealing tube station, or Sainsbury's in Alperton or Asda in Northolt.
