An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of encouraging terrorism

A teenager has been arrested for a terrorism offence, as part of an ongoing investigation by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at an address in west London this morning (Wednesday, 27 April) on suspicion of encouraging terrorism.

The investigation relates to suspected extreme Islamist material the 18-year-old allegedly shared online.

He was detained under the The Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), and is currently in custody at a London police station.

A PACE search warrant is being conducted at the address.

Enquiries continue.
