Questors Youth Theatre brings Lionboy to life with circus flair and live music
The Questors Theatre is gearing up for its next production, Lionboy, from the novels by Zizou Corder adapted by Marcelo Dos Santos.
Directing the production at Mattock Lane is emerging female director, Georgia Brown, who will guide Questors Youth Theatre's (QYT) diverse group of young people.
From 25 February to 1 March 2025, audiences can witness a rollicking exploration of bravery, integrity and standing up for what's right in a world where structures are tall, people are ravenous and companies are more powerful than people.
When all the odds are stacked against you, what can you do? Enlist the help of a passing circus?
QYT brings people a tale told through the eyes of a small boy in the face of some very big problems.
Fusing circus skills, storytelling and live music, Lionboy will leave you laughing, thinking and maybe even running off to join the circus.
Leading the show is Charlie Ashanti (Kodjo Kaladeen-Wallis), a boy who can speak English, French, Italian, Arabic, Twi and cat.
Charlie is living his normal life here, until one day he comes home and his parents are gone.
Together with his makeshift band of clowns, cats and contortionists, can Charlie find what it takes to find his parents and stand up to The Corporacy?
Georgia Brown is a director, actor, and youth facilitator from West London, trained at LAMDA and part of Wise Children's Adapting and Directing course.
Set designer, juliette Demoulin, trained in Architecture and Set Design in Paris and is the resident Assistant Designer at the Finborough Theatre, earning an OffWestEnd Award nomination for A Private View.
Original music by Morris Bachmann and Sunghoon Lee.
