St Benedict’s cricketers recognised among best young players in the country
By Nub News Reporter 13th May 2026
Two sixth form students from St Benedict's School have been recognised among the top schoolboy cricketers in the country in the 2026 edition of the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.
Year 12 student Harry Hancock was named the leading wicket-taker in UK school cricket for the 2025 season, while Year 13 student and First XI captain Thomas Kottler ranked second for wickets nationally and also finished among the top five run scorers.
Widely regarded as cricket's most prestigious publication, Wisden has documented the sport's leading performances since 1864 and highlights the country's best emerging school talent each year.
Juan Henri, Head of Cricket at St Benedict's, said: "Harry delivered a phenomenal season, showing remarkable consistency and composure to finish as the leading wicket-taker in the country.
"Thomas complemented this with an exceptional all-round performance, excelling with both bat and ball.
"Together, they formed a highly effective opening bowling partnership and played a key role in the team's success."
Harry said it was "a great honour" to be recognised in Wisden and thanked his coaches for their support throughout the season.
Thomas added: "Being recognised in Wisden is a proud moment for me, particularly as it's a publication I've followed for many years."
First XI coach Huw Jones said Harry's accuracy and Thomas's all-round performances, including two centuries scored at a high strike rate, were vital to the team's success.
Thomas is completing his final year at the Ealing school, while Harry will continue his cricket development next season.
