St Benedict's School has announced two senior leadership appointments ahead of the new academic year.

The independent school confirmed that Lewis Phillips will join in September 2026 as Deputy Head Academic.

Mr Phillips currently serves as Assistant Principal Academic at DLD College London and has held a number of senior roles in leading schools.

He has also completed advanced study at the University of Cambridge and University College London.

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Phillips said he was delighted to be joining the school and had felt an immediate connection to its sense of community during his visits.

He added: "I knew that this was a special place where strong values lie at the heart of everything and where young people are encouraged to pursue their interests holistically."

The school has also announced the appointment of Patrick McCarthy as Senior Deputy Head from September 2026.

Mr McCarthy is already a familiar face to the St Benedict's community, having previously spent 10 years at the school in a range of roles including Head of Year, Director of Initial Teacher Training and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

He also taught Economics and Business at A Level.

He returns to St Benedict's from St Augustine's Priory, where he currently works as Deputy Head Academic.

Mr McCarthy has also taught in London and Australia and holds a Master's in Catholic School Leadership from St Mary's University.

He said: "I am delighted to return to St Benedict's as Senior Deputy Head. The school continues to go from strength to strength and I am very much looking forward to re-joining the school at an exciting time in its development."
