Second man charged in Harlington murder of Southall man

A second man has been charged in connection with the investigation into the murder of Mohamed Muhiyidin from Southall, Ealing.

Charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm with intent to commit violence and assisting an offender, Mohammed Ilyas Shakeel, 28, of Cape Close, Barking appeared at court on Monday, 8 November.

This followed on from the overnight arrest of a 38-year-old man on suspicion of murder on Thursday, 4 November, who was originally taken to hospital for an injury to his arm.

He has since been discharged and remains in police custody.

A 44-year-old man was also charged with assisting an offender and appeared at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Thursday, 4 November.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on Thursday, 2 December.

The victim was found on Sipson Lane, Harlington at 06:16am on Sunday, 31 October after a passing motorist noticed a person at the side of the road.

Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics but despite the efforts of the emergency services, Mohamed was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem has confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
